The witches of old revered nature, and the natural forces of the universe. They saw magic in the wind; in the moon; in thunder, and lightning; and, in the setting, and the rising of the sun. They saw magic in the changing seasons; and, in the movement of the planets and stars. They saw magic in the nature deities that were said to reside in the forests, the streams, and the ocean near their homes. They saw magic in the glimpse of their reflection in a stream. They saw magic in the interaction of lovers. They saw magic in the cycle of life in bringing new life into the world. They saw magic in the renewal of spring, following the relentless cold of winter. They communicated with the spirit world, and with those who had passed. They looked to the future, to see what would be. They sought to take control of this magic to change the reality of existence - they called themselves witches.

Modern Witchcraft is inherently a nature religion, embracing ancient traditions within a contemporary neo-Pagan context. The escalating popularity of Witchcraft echoes the retro-spiritual evolution of humanity spirituality that desires to reconnect with the natural world, and the awesome forces of nature.
Nature worship reveres the polarity of nature - the sacred masculine and feminine - as personified by God/Goddess forms. The God and Goddess epitomize the male and female elements of the natural world, as tangible representations, or archetypes for spiritual devotion. The balance of the masculine and feminine, as an inherent and integral part of religious worship, is an important part of the continuing evolution of religious ethos ethos that delves into the past to recreate the future.
Witches seek to connect with the power of nature, and to harness the forces of nature to compel spells and magickal rituals. The Witches of old drew from lunar emanations, celestial forces, and the power manifest in the natural world to empower their magick, and promote balance and harmony in their lives. Working with the tumultuous forces of nature can be used to generate power, and to empower the world of the Witch.
Throughout history, Witches have drawn from the immense power of the collective human unconscious - whereby the collective thoughts and dreams of humans have unconsciously recreated the God/Goddess archetypes, which are given life on the astral plane. In effect these Gods and Goddesses are created by the human mind - as the mind interacts with the spirits of the etheric world - and energised by the emanations of the human psyche. As humans give thought to these archetypes, they escalate in power and increase in astral substance, thereby amplifying the power that they can lend to magickal rites.
Witches have learned to access the universal divine the divine and universal energy source the source of all life, and the derivation of the human soul. The soul is constructed from the divine, and inherently linked to the divine power, learning how to access the universal power is the secret to unlocking latent psychic abilities, and generating power as a Witch. The universal divine is an immense and immanent supply of energy, which can be used to empower the soul, and energize rituals and spells.
In order to give magickal substance to the religion of Wicca, Gerald Gardner the founder of the Wiccan religion, drew from magickal rituals practiced by esoteric societies, which can be traced back to the time of King Solomon (961-928 BC), and earlier. Gerald Gardner was able to gain access to these traditions through his knowledge of the esoteric traditions of secret societies to which he had connections. Societies, which have drawn from the prisca theologia the primordial knowledge of the ancients.
Witchcraft is a religion that appeals to both men and women. Many men are seeking to embrace the full spectrum of religious ethos, as mirrored by the duality of the natural world - to adore both the Goddess and the God, as essential archetypes of spiritual devotion.
I wrote this book as a single comprehensive source of knowledge on Witchcraft and the occult. Modern Witchcraft is not a stand-alone facet of the occult; various elements of the occult have worked to influence different factions of the Craft. Therefore, to gain a whole and integrated understanding of the Craft it is necessary to delve into the occult and comprehend the arena of magick as a whole; and, to understand magick it is essential to go back to the primordial beginnings of magick, at the dawn of human existence. The knowledge of the ancients contains the keys necessary to unlock the doors to successful magick and spellcasting. It is these ancient sources that hold the secrets to entering the realm of the Witch.
Within the pages of this book I explain how to cast magickal circles to commune with the higher powers, enter higher dimensions, and cast spells that work. I provide exercises essential to developing psychic power, amplifying latent psychic power, and understanding successful divinatory techniques. I have strived to identify the ideologies behind both white and black magic to discuss the black and white magic continuum. I have also provided time-honoured methods that can be used to protect against black magick.
This book should be of immense interest to anyone wishing to increase their personal power as a Witch.
